In 1999 a new commercial television channel was introduced in Flanders. A feel-good channel that brings infotainment programs aimed at a large audience. The concept fits in with the trend of choosing quality of life, a more conscious way of living.
The name Vitaya expresses liveliness and joy of life, which corresponds to the offer of programs showing all different aspects of life. Vitaya is an elegant and nice sounding word thanks to the succession of vowels. This gives the name its open character.
